Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies

Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies

I always have a jar in my kitchen filled with cookies. Every body knows it and they flock to it when they come over. Usually they are these simple chocolate chip cookies that everyone loves. I wanted to see if I could make them even better with another layer of flavor so I added a sprinkle of sea salt to the tops when they were done baking. The addition of sea salt just takes the cookies flavor to another level. They are sweet and delicious and then you taste the salt which is so unexpected.  They are my new cookie jar staple.

  3. 1/4 cup sugar
  4. 1 egg
  5. 2 tsp vanilla
  6. 2 cups flour

  9. 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, chopped into smaller bits

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°. In a bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  3. Add flour, cornstarch and baking soda. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.
  4. Drop dough onto cookie sheet using a cookie scoop or tablespoon. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until they are just barely starting to get golden spots (do not cook longer than 10 minutes). Remove from oven and sprinkle sea salt over the tops of the cookies. Let cool on sheet for 10 minutes then move to wire racks to cool completely.
