Cranberry-Pistachio Puppy Chow

Puppy Chow, also known as Muddy Buddies,  is a new obsession of ours. We’ve been wanting to make it for a while now, but kept putting it off or forgetting about it. Last week I was waiting in line at Starbucks  and they were handing out samples of this yummy white chocolate cranberry cookie bar thing, and it was so dang good. Then that reminded me of this white chocolate cranberry-pistachio bark my mom makes around the holidays, which is also really dang good!  So of course we had to make this festive chow to keep up with the holiday trend.Cranberry Pistachio Puppy Chow

Ingredients
  1. 1 1/2 cups of white chocolate (we use merkin melting chocolates)
  2. 6 cups of rice Chex mix
  3. 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
  4. 1/4 cup of craisins
  5. 1/4 finely chopped pistachios*
Instructions
  1. In a microwave safe bowl, melt your chocolate (in 30 second intervals so you don't burn it)
  2. In a large seperate bowl, add your cereal
  3. Add the melted chocolate to the cereal and slowly and carefully stir to coat and combine
  4. Put the powdered sugar in a large Ziploc bag, and put the craisins and pistachios in another Ziploc bag
  5. Add 3/4 of the coated cereal into the powdered sugar Ziploc and shake until the white chocolate cereal is coated with powdered sugar
  6. Add the remaining 1/4 of the chocolate cereal mixture into the craisin-pistachio Ziploc bag and shake well to coat
  7. On 2 cookie sheets covered with wax paper, empty each mixture from the Ziploc bags (keeping them separate) and let them set for about 30 minutes.
  8. Once the mixture is set, combine the two mixtures
  9. Serve in a bowl, tin, or put in mason jars to hand out as gifts
  10. Keep stored in a Ziploc bag or tin with a lid
Notes
  1. We bought regular pistachios and had to crack open all the shells to get the seed, which took a little too long. Next time I would definitely buy the bag of pistachio seeds, no shell to mess with.
