I think when you craft a cocktail all by yourself, it’s more enjoyable. You appreciate all the flavors more because you made them and you put them together. For this lemonade cocktail, we made our own lemonade and lavender simple syrup. It’s delicious and refreshing.
We used homemade lemonade in our cocktail (find it here). Store bought lemonade tends to have more sugar and when mixed with simple syrup it’s just too sweet for us. If you don’t feel like making homemade lemonade then a store bought light lemonade works just as well too.
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3-4 sprigs of fresh lavender
- 2 oz vodka
- 5 oz homemade lemonade
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water and sugar. Stir and cook until sugar is dissolved and mixture is clear. Add lavender, cover and remove from heat. Let steep 2 hours.
- Fill a glass with ice. Add vodka, lemonade and 1 1/2 - 2 Tbsp of lavender simple syrup. Stir and garnish with a lavender sprig or lemon wedge.
- Lavender simple syrup makes enough for about 8 cocktails. Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
